A grade boundary is the lowest total mark that earns a grade. Pearson and Cambridge set their boundaries after marking, every series, and publish them on results day. We link to the official tables rather than copy the numbers, so you always see the current ones.

How to read them
- Edexcel 4MA1 Higher is graded on your total across Paper 1H and Paper 2H (100 marks each), so look up the total, not each paper separately.
- Cambridge calls them grade thresholds and publishes them for each syllabus and series, including the thresholds for each combination of papers you can be entered for.
- They move every series. A harder paper gets lower boundaries, so compare several recent series before setting a target.
What grade am I on?
Sit a full 4MA1 Higher paper under timed conditions, mark it with the official mark scheme, and compare your total with that series' boundaries. Then close the gap unit by unit: every unit has exam-style practice with worked solutions.

When are IGCSE Maths grade boundaries published?
On results day for each series, on the board's own grade boundaries page (linked above).
Is there a grade for Paper 1H on its own?
No. For Edexcel 4MA1 the grade comes from your total across both Higher papers.
Why are the boundaries different every year?
They are set after marking so that a grade reflects the same standard whichever paper you sat. A harder paper gets lower boundaries.
Why don't you list the numbers?
Boundaries change every series and copied tables go out of date. The boards' pages are always current, so we link straight to them.
