How to use these notes

Read the primer for a sub-topic, work through its example with the solution covered, then practise the same skill: the IGCSE Maths questions by topic have free worked answers, and the student hub has every question marked. Keep the formula guide open while you revise, and when a unit feels secure, time yourself on a real paper from the past papers page and mark it using how maths mark schemes work.

Questions about the notes

Which IGCSE Maths specification do these notes follow?

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (4MA1), Higher tier, sub-topic by sub-topic across its five strands. Much of the content overlaps with Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580), but the topic lists differ: 4MA1 has no scatter diagrams or stem-and-leaf diagrams, for example, and 0580 has a Core tier. Cambridge students should use our Cambridge 0580 revision notes, which follow the 0580 syllabus sub-topic by sub-topic, mark each one Core or Extended and link to these notes where the mathematics is the same.

Are the IGCSE Maths revision notes free?

Yes. Every primer and worked example in these notes is free to read, with no sign-in. Practising the exam-style questions with mark schemes in the student hub starts with a 7-day free trial.

What should I do after reading a note?

Cover the worked example and redo it, then practise the same sub-topic in the student hub. Once a unit feels secure, sit a timed paper from the Edexcel 4MA1 past papers and mark it against the official mark scheme.
